Location: 700 Ackerman Road

Position Purpose: Reporting to the Revenue Cycle Support Project Manager/ Central Coding & Revenue Cycle Support Department, the Revenue Capture Specialist uses knowledge and understanding of medical billing, practice management systems, and organizational processes to support the OSUP Coding, OSUP Revenue Cycle Support, and OSUP Clinical Departments via a consistent process of charge capture creation for surgical and procedural cases.   A streamlined approach provides the certified coding staff and clinical departments a mechanism for timely charge creation.  In addition, the position prepares the analysis of charge sessions to provide surgical and procedural full-case reconciliation for all providers and specialties.

Job Requirements: Requires a High School diploma or GED; at least one year of claims processing, insurance billing, and/or medical terminology experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a healthcare environment.

  • Must have experience with a computerized billing system.  EPIC experience is preferred.
  • Strong project and process analysis skills; must have competency, tact, diplomacy and communication skills necessary to interact with peers, department personnel, administration and physicians both internal and external to patient accounting on a professional level.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess and Analyze clinical documentation to create surgical and procedural charge sessions.
  • Works with the Project Manager on quality assurance and auditing of charge activity within IHIS.
  • Understands system workflows to identify opportunities and minimize missed charging.
  • Works closely with clinical and revenue cycle build teams and end users to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Surgical/ procedural case reconciliation; analysis of charge sessions for revenue capture.
  • OBGYN/MFM- Delivery splits and reconciliation of census to coding/charging.
  • Ensures that feedback is given to the Project Manager and Coding Managers regarding possible charge issues.
  • Understands and complies with billing regulations.
  • Supports- via data extraction- randomized coder audits.
  • Supports electronic charge capture and spreadsheets; i.e. Dialysis billing
  • Supports revenue cycle projects/ initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
