Location: 660 Ackerman Road

Purpose:  Under direction of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant II performs professional accounting work, including auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, providing information to staff regarding accounting practices and procedures, and reconciling general ledger accounts; assists in preparing the OSUP Corporate and/or OSUP LLC’s annual and mid-year budgets; prepares year-end audit reports and schedules; trains and provides technical advice to accounting personnel, and performs related work as required. Assembles highly confidential and sensitive information.  Some familiarity with laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance.

Requirements:  Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field and 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience. Intermediate level of knowledge with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Access. Must be well-organized, strong attention to detail, ability to effectively multi-task and set priorities. Familiarity with Great Plains Software & Payroll Systems. Intermediate levels of skills and understanding of balance sheet, statement of operations and cash flow concepts including GAAP. Intermediate understanding of fixed assets, financial reporting, payroll, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and multi-location support. Ability to review subsidiary ledgers and reconcile ledgers to GL accounts, including intercompany transactions. Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations; always displaying an even temperament and professional demeanor. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Ability to act as a team member and contribute to a team solution. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal situations. Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and develop, recommend, and implement solutions.

Preferences:  Experience with Great Plains Software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day activity as well as monthly closing of assigned LLC’s. Prepare reports and schedules, prepare journal entries, analyze and prepare summaries of accounts, verify reports for accuracy. 
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, research and explain variances in addition to preparing monthly financial reporting for assigned OSUP LLC’s. 
  • Preparing Accounts Receivable report detailing all non-patient past dues and balancing GL to AR.
  • Maintain records for fixed asset reporting, including depreciation.
  • Coordinating and/or inputting payables into Great Plains, batch summary report balancing and submission for approval, verification, and posting by the Senior Accountant.
  • Prepare year-end financial package for audit and tax package for 990 with reconciliations and explanation of variances.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of accounting software and how it can be utilized more effectively. 
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process by providing management of departments/LLC’s with historical information.
  • Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies. 
  • Reviewing all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosures and classification.  Reporting any discrepancies to Accounting Manager.  
  • Responsible for coordinating new vendor setup, maintaining open and paid vendor files and reconciling vendor statements and handling payment complaints and discrepancies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.  This position may be assigned to special projects or accountabilities when other priorities are identified.
