    To become a medical assistant at OSU Physicians, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet at least one of the following qualifications:

    • A diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

    • A minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience.

    • Military Medic training.

    • EMT-P (Paramedic) training.

    • A combination of relevant medical assisting education and experience totaling 1 year.

    While Medical Assistant Certification is preferred, it is not required. OSUP values certification and offers additional compensation to Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) who maintain their credentials. Not certified yet? No problem—OSUP provides a tuition reimbursement program to help cover the costs of obtaining certification.
